LITTLE ELK CREEK PRESERVE

BRC is excited to continue TLC's work in Elk Township to open this beautiful property for residents' enjoyment.

Since the acquisition of 180 acres in Elk Township in 2018, staff have been hard at work planning access and trails. This beautiful property contains over 1 mile of the Little Elk Creek and its tributaries, rolling meadows, and a variety of woodlands.

BRC is working on long-term trails and conservation practices with a priority on opening an initial trail section to allow visitors to enjoy the Little Elk Creek on the north side. Management and trail implementation south of the Creek will be a longer process, but we are planning on opening a portion of the property shortly.

The Little Elk Creek Preserve will be open for passive recreation only. There will be no motorized vehicles. The initial trails to be opened will not be long enough for enjoyable trail rides, but the long-term plan will be for equestrian grade stream crossings and a large network of trails to allow for enjoyable trail rides.

The property was purchased from the Patricia duPont Foundation and BRC will continue to uphold her love of horses and hounds through the planned uses of the property. Such trails and improvements take some time to establish so we ask all equestrians to be patient as we establish proper management for the property to allow for horses and all users to best enjoy this beautiful spot.
