ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS
SCHOOL & AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
TLC hosts a variety of environmental education programs year-round for all ages. Many of these programs and topics have been tailored to travel to schools and bring nature to the classroom in support of STEM education.
*All program options are designed to meet PA Academic Science and Next Generation Science Standards.
Popular classroom lessons include:
Food Is Medicine & GreenRx
Programs can be tailored to meet your lesson plans for ages pre-K through high school. The below pictures highlight a variety of lessons covering things like climate change and composting that allow kids to get hands on lessons. Students dissect owl pellets, explore soil science, and examine the variety of wildlife that inhabit our region through TLC staff and renowned guest lecturers.
TURTLES & HERPS
We are working with teachers and parents to ensure that learning continues despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Virtual and online learning will include a variety of subjects. If you are looking for ways to keep your child active, check out our online or socially distanced activities. Thank you for your patience while we design lessons that will keep your child both safe and engaged with the natural world.
FIELD TRIPS ALSO AVAILABLE
If you want a larger field experience, your students can come to one of our preserves or our sister preserve and enjoy the great outdoors in person. Learn to identify animal habitats and behavior, explore native and invasive plants, learn about bees at TLC’s apiary, play in the stream while learning about water quality, and many more topics!
Some outdoor lessons can be completed at your school if an appropriate outdoor space is available.
